Natural vs Organic Chemical-Free Skincare Products

In the present case scenario, natural and organic skincare products have become more popular with Indian beauty enthusiasts. However, the terms ‘natural’ and ‘organic’ can be quite misleading as they are often used interchangeably despite the differences between both terminologies.

Natural Skin Care Products

A product is considered to be natural when the ingredients are sourced from nature rather than produced synthetically. Hence, Natural products are formulated with nature-derived ingredients, including plants and minerals. There is a chance that these products might not be 100% clean as they aren’t well regulated by governing bodies. This implies that a natural product with a handful of nature-derived ingredients can be considered as natural, despite the addition of other synthetic substances. Natural cosmetics are manufactured without the involvement of petroleum or mineral oil derived ingredients and are free of preservatives, artificial fragrance, and other additives. However, other chemicals, including pesticides and chemical fertilizers, are used to enhance the ingredient’s growth that cannot be grown naturally.

Organic Skin Care Products

The term organic means that the ingredients are organically farmed without any involvement of pesticides, herbicides and chemical fertilizers. Organic skincare products are formulated with plant-based ingredients, and healthy fertile soil is developed by growing and rotating a mix of crops. Organic materials, including manure and compost, are added to the land to ensure that the ingredients are 100% toxin-free. Furthermore, the ingredients are derived from plants with a few approved methods such as biodiversity conservation, cultural integration and ecological balance promotion. Organic beauty products undergo rigorous testing standards to ensure 100% purity. These products are supervised by certified bodies such as EcoCert, NaTrue, OneCert. It is of no surprise that organic products are much safer, potent and healthier when compared to natural skin care products.

Both natural and organic products combine essential minerals, vitamins and extracts that help restore the skin. Organic products go through many testing standards; however, not all of them are purely organic. Governing bodies allows products with at least 60-70% organic material also to pass as “organic.” However, the products at Organic Harvest are made up of 100% organic ingredients. From the procurement of raw materials to the finished result, all Organic Harvest products go through a stringent, Earth-friendly, quality control process to ensure there is no trace of synthetic and harmful ingredients. Hence, the range of skincare products is purely organic and focuses more on absolute freshness and ultimate potency.
